Hello all of my Family and Friends,
I hope all is well with everyone. I am reaching out to each and every one of you because I need your help!!! Every year Sleep Country holds a huge charity event called “Pajama Bowl” for their Foster Kids program in the Pacific Northwest. Teams of 5 bowlers dress in their PJ’s and raise money for local foster children. It is such an amazing charity and helps over 26,000 local foster children. This year I am sponsoring a team and really need your help! 100% of all pledges will help local foster kids by going directly to the foster care partners. We need to raise $250.00 by April 18th! Starting right now! The School Psychers of Seattle University have decided to choose Treehouse as our designated charity as we have seen wonderful results first hand with foster care children.
You only need two key pieces of information from me:

I'm more like Kathy Lee Gifford than you think

That title might seem like a joke to you. But it isn't to me. I'm serious. But this is why you like me anyway.
I am a fan of Kathy Lee Gifford. First off, we like the same things. She will make comments on the Today Show and I swear every comment she makes I'm in total agreeance. For example, they were showing her some fashion shoes and I hated all of them but one pair. Then Kathy Lee voiced the exact same opinion. Two, she was the sidekick/singer on Name That Tune, which I LOVED! Three, she attended Kansas State University, which is where I worked for a stint in Manhattan, Kansas. She also appeared as Miss Hannigan in a production of Annie which if you know me you know I ADORE the characters, especially Miss Hannigan.
She seems so real and down to earth to me. And though people might disagree, I really like her. She's the only "celebrity" and I use it loosely that I feel I can relate to. I don't know why I have this odd connection with her, I just do! And did you know that in the fourth hour of the Today Show within the first two months of her being host the points went up 14. That is a large jump. People like her. I also like her because of her stories on how she names her kids, and the funny things she learned as a parent. I suspect I will have some of those funny stories too later on in my life. So here's to you Kathy Lee, congratulations on your one year on the Today Show!

Anti-bridge

Last night I made a confession to Jim. I don't like bridges in songs. I think they are pointless. People will say that that is how one makes a song and that it adds interest to the song, I disagree. I think it is a waist of my listening ears. I have been thinking about this a lot lately as I'm listening to new music and old music alike. I really don't have much use for it. So I'm looking for music that actually has a bridge that I like as a sort of test to myself.
Wikipedia says that lyrically, the bridge is typically used to pause and reflect on the earlier portions of the song or to prepare the listener for the climax. It also goes on to state "In song writing, a bridge is an interlude that connects two parts of that song, building a harmonic connection between those parts. If and when you expect a verse or a chorus and you get something that is musically and lyrically different from both verse and chorus, it is most likely the bridge."
So please if you think there are any bridges out there worth listening to, be it classical or good-old fashioned rock-n-roll, please make it known.

Parent of the Year Award-March

So this month's award goes to two parents who took their three children all under the age of about five to a scary movie (rated R) with no coats in about 25 degree weather, oh did I mention it was a late movie at about 10pm at night?! Jim and I were standing in freezing cold weather waiting in line to see a movie, I forget which movie. And we noticed in front of us three little girls freezing cold while their parents (assuming they were) had coats on buying all of them tickets to some scary movie...I don't recall which movie but I do recall that the father bought all of them those tickets. It was also very late at night to be out and about for three kids under the age of five. I was so upset that Jim had to calm me down.
