Almost Goodbye

I have always enjoyed Leno. When I was 16 I went out and bought is autobiography, Leading With My Chin. I know most people like Letterman over Leno but it has to be said that Leno is cleaner and more family friendly. I respect this about him, especially when comedy can be very dirty. The last show showed his true colors. It wasn't about him but about the family that was created on the set. I would totally be his friend if he let me.

In the still of twilight

My favorite time of day is twilight. The sun is easing its way to shine on the other side of the world. There seems to be an unusual amount of silence during this stage of the day at my house; the birds stop chirping, the bees stop pollenating, and the wind usually calms down enough for a few moments of quiet. I love my view.

These pictures were taken at twilight just like described above. I took them outside my sliding glass doors downstairs where I live.

Does anyone see a Mountain anywhere?

Memorial Day Weekend was spent golfing, swimming, perusing the flee markets, hanging out at a campfire, attending an auction, and eating! Nothing better than sunshine! I love Packwood Washington!

???????????????????????????????????????????

So I just spent five minutes looking for the question mark button on my computer. Either I spaced out for a moment or my brain is slowly being sucked out of me by aliens who don't recognize the question mark button. I hope it's the former.

Tayler Tot

I am so proud of my sister who is about to graduate from high school! She got into the toughest school in Washington! With record applications and record low acceptance into U-Dub! She did it! I can't wait for her to be in Seattle with me!

Update on: "Update to 'I'm an Idiot" (This story starts way down there, so scroll down)

Yeah so I got my car back. The light is still on and guess what. It isn't the oil light as previous thought. Could I be even more of an idiot. The entire reason I got myself into this mess was that I thought it was the oil light. Moral of story: Know what your indicator lights mean. My mechanic went and labeled everything for me as a joke, but really it was helpful. ;)

Update to "I'm an idiot"

My mechanic just called. I didn't put oil in the transmission fluid I put it in the power-steering, which is worse. Go figure. But it is fixable.

The oil that goes into the power steering pump is red, and is the same as transmission oil. Its a thinner weight, and contains anti-foaming additives.

The oil that goes in your motor is green, and thicker and heat tolerant.

The Federal Bureau of Standards require oils, gas, and fuels to be color coded.

That's mistake millions have made......

I feel a little better.

Mother's Day Song to Popcorn Popping
by Corrin Keeler
--------------------------

(Sung to the tune of Popcorn popping)

I woke up this morning and what did I see

my mother's face smile back at me.

She does so much for my family

and she's fun and so pretty.

I can take my arms and give her a hug,

one I know she would surely love.

And on this special day

I just want to say

Happy Mother's Day and I LOVE YOU!

I'm an idiot

Well this weekend I was an idiot. I was in a hurry and trying to avoid an oil change which got me into a bit of a pickle. Let me preface this by saying that for one I know how to change my own oil and have in the past, and two I also know how to add oil to my car usually. So this weekend my oil light went on (problem which I'm sure will cost me in the near future) and I went to fill up the oil because I checked it and it was low. Well in my haste to get to the Mother's Day boat cruise in time put it in the wrong place. I knew something was wrong when I had only put in a quarter of a gallon of oil and it overflowed. Yet my oil was low...so I thought something is not right. Low and behold I'm an idiot (although according to the Internet there are lots of people like me). I had put it in the transmission fluid location. I called a friend he said not a big deal just get a transmission flush. So I called my mechanic and he said "not a big deal in a non-volkswagen." So he had me tow it to him this morning at risk of starting it and mixing the stuff and he's fixing it now. Not a super expensive mistake (I hope and he assured me) but expensive for me (read more than 50 is expensive for me but half my rent is SUPER EXPENSIVE) and happened at the worst week possible! Sometimes life just sucks.

As I was crying to Jim about this stupid stress in my life he said "look at it this way, you will never make that mistake again." So true. And out of spite I stuck my tongue out at my car and hurt her feelers and then I realized I was the one that did it to her. I'm not only an idiot but I suck too.

Where the heck is Starbucks?

So last week my friend whom I haven't seen in well over five years was going to meet me at Starbucks to catch up. She is a flight attendant so she was coming from SeaTac airport and I was coming from FW. So we decided to meet in the middle somewhere. We would both leave at the same time and travel on the same road going opposite. And when one of us saw a starbucks we would meet there (we were talking the entire time on the phone). Well...it took forever to find one! Shockingly enough. I mean the U Village has three starbucks in one mall, how could it be that we had trouble finding just one starbucks on a major road? And yes there were safeways that have them but we wanted an "authentic" starbucks. So we finally found one at both our old stomping grounds when I was a freshman in college and she had just started her job at Alaska, and it was LITERALLY exactly half way between the two of us! I just thought this was a cute story. The wonderful thing about starbucks is you don't have to be a coffee drinker to appreciate the finer things in life...like say a double chocolate mint frappacino. Two bucks so good (well maybe four bucks)!

So this story could end there but I wanted to quickly throw out that my friend and I ended up catching up for four hours, so we really should have gone to a restaurant. We both got in our cars and called each other when we realized how much time had actually passed. We thought maybe we had spent about an hour chatting away oh no my friends. Four HOURS! Moral of the story: Starbucks are good and old friends are better!

What to say?

I've got nothing. My life is quite mundane and hohum right now. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing but it isn't necessarily a good thing either. School is killing me softly and I can't see the end. I know it is there, but it has a looooong way to go. And because I still have a long way to go it means I will continue to be poor for that much time (read 2.5 years as of right now). Life is no fun at this moment in time and maybe I should recognize that fact that life isn't always fun. But in my book it should be.

Baby Birds

I live on 5 acres of lusch gorgeous property, complete with flowers and gardens. This bird about four weeks ago we noticed decided to build a nest in the only plastic ferns on the property right by the car port.

About two weeks ago we noticed these gorgeous speckeled eggs. Four of them. SUPER TINY. About the size of a dove chocolate easter egg. Guess what, two of them hatched today. I've never seen something so tiny in my life. They are breathing and doing well. It is incredible! They are the cutest ugliest things I have ever seen in my life.
